I am flitting between excitement and trepidation, "excipidation" but it's starting to feel in a little bit more control; flip-flopping between the two is now twice-daily as opposed to hourly. It is less than a month until my first working day in India, and I have Xmas, New Year and packing to complete. I have started to make lists. Lists of things to pack for immediate use. Things to pack to be shipped for future use. Lists of things to be maintained in London whilst I am gone. And lists of things to be bought when I arrive in India. I've asked for specific items off my India-list as Xmas gifts, such as asking the kids for a framed photo of them, (no bigger than A5!), to put up in my new temporary home. I also hope I get a couple of physical books as pressies also so that I can begin a bookshelf which always makes a place look more homely. I've clocked that there's an IKEA in Navi Mumbai so that's practical household stuff like bedding and towels and kitchen utensils all sorted. And less practical stuff like cushions. And scented candles. And the odd potted cactus.
